If you're in the mood for something a little different, try the Lychee Mackerel, where the sweetness of lychee balances beautifully with the savory taste of mackerel-a surprising yet harmonious fusion of flavors that you'll love.

What customers say?

“ Have been wanting to try this place for a while after walking past it on Valencia. We went on a rainy sunday night craving Japanese curry & Echigo did not disappoint!! While the nigiri sushi was super fresh & delicious, curry dishes were the best we’ve had in the city since returning from our trip to Japan!! The meat was cooked perfectly— crispy yet juicy. The portions were very generous & the curry truly felt like someone’s home cooked family recipe. We finally found our curry spot!! ”

“ I thought the food was really good and I love getting the salmon matchazuke here. Unfortunately I think the food is quite overpriced ($30+ for the matchazuke) for what it is as well as for the quantity. My gf doesn't have a big appetite and even she finished her meal along with sharing a roll together. Sometimes the service can be quite slow, especially for the rolls. We thought they forgot about it! I do like the ambiance though. It's well decorated and a peaceful restaurant to eat in. ”

“ quaint spot for hearty & authentic japanese cuisine in sf - drawn by the cute door as we neared the restaurant. was not expecting much as there weren’t many reviews, but the warm aesthetics of the interior was such a pleasant surprise. after we were seated and while deciding on our dinner menu, i was debating between the omakase (fresh fish flown in from toyosu market in tokyo!) and the ikura bowl. my friends ordered the katsu curry, and mentaiko udon. ultimately, i still went with the ikura bowl as it was what i was craving. the bowl came with three different cuts of salmon sashimi. while it was fresh and good, it was a smaller portion of sashimi than i had hoped for but the rice portion was generous. i would opt to try the nigiris next time! they also have some donburi and chazuke options. overall, we all enjoyed the food and would recommend this place for the calm ambience and delicious food. ”

“ This is a nice Japanese restaurant, the interior design gives you a welcoming and cozy feeling. Restaurant staffs were very attentive, greeted us right when we walked in. Honestly at first I didn’t expect much from dining here. But I was blown away by the presentation and taste of the food! The sashimi was so fresh, definitely try their sashimi platter, the fish was so soft and tasty and didn’t have any fishy taste at all. Super yummy! Another impressive one was the A5 wagyu beef, so soft that you would feel like it melts in your mouth! They grilled it to perfection! I will definitely come back! ”

“ The sushi is so yummy. The interior looks so fancy. I especially love their fried tofu and mentaiko salmon roll. Echigo rainbow roll is also good. For people who doesn’t like raw fish, I will recommend shrimp tempura roll. ”
